My feet hurt, like I hiked the trails of the Olympic Peninsula all day! But I didn't, I walked around the Peninsula College (in high heels) ...actually the Pirate Union Building known as the PUB. Today I was the event coordinator of a memorial...a tribute to a very special man. The phrase "many hands make light work" is sometimes overused but it is SO true. I'm a designer and a delegator and today many helpful people showed up and took direction beautifully, making light work for all. Well not all, not the people who brought in the large rocks, the maple slabs, the stumps and the container of pebbles, their work load was heavy. They never complained. The pebbles and rocks represented the river of life, the stumps represented the heavily wooded area full of maple trees and evergreens. These were all things that were dear to my friend who we remembered today. There are things he designed that I will always cherish...as I wander out along the carefully calculated trail and boardwalk, hang out at the PUB, drive past the Carnegie Hall and arrange his hiking boots at his celebration of life. As I make displays with the rocks, moss, ferns, salal and local evergreens I realize this very special architect has sparked new insight for me and many others. His influence in our community will carry on throughout generations! Mr. Humble., Mr. Stuart Bonney! Thank you for your contribution to this community. We miss you already and will remember you in the beauty of the Peninsula.
